Healthier UK was officially launched at a Parliamentary reception in Westminster, bringing together parliamentarians, clinicians, mayoral teams, and community innovators.
The event highlighted the urgent need to shift health policy from an acute illness-treatment model to a proactive, place-based health-creation model. Attendees heard addresses from co-chairs Dr William Bird MBE and Dr Frances Elliot, alongside representatives from across the four nations.
"Britain has built a world-class service for treating illness. It has never built one for creating health. Doing so is the defining opportunity of this decade."
Key themes discussed included cross-government health mission framing, empowering Mayoral Combined authorities, scaling neighbourhood health demonstrators, and shifting financial mechanisms to invest to save.
